Business Analysts! How did you get into your Role?

Hi, today I am looking for your help: I am trying to understand a bit better on how us Business Analysts end up being Business Analysts.
My career path, started with an Engineering Degree, followed by a visual design, coding and project management. Then an MBA. Then a major project where I did a lot of analysis and was told this roles was called Business Analysis. From there I transitioned from waterfall to agile, and into a more and more strategic, facilitation and value focused role.
As you can see, this is not a straight forward career path, and consequently I struggle when I am being asked how one should get into this role. Of course, there are certifications and training courses one can do, but I hazard a guess, that most of us haven’t started as BAs.
